Fluency is the cheapest thing a script generator produces, and the easiest to mistake for quality

Every tool in this category writes clean copy. A test that separates them, and the one question most cannot answer. 2026-10-10.

Why the usual comparison is useless

Ask five script generators for a script and you get five readable scripts. Modern language models are all fluent, so the demos all look good and the comparison collapses into interface preference and price.

We are not going to publish a scored table of other companies' current features. Feature sets change monthly and a table written from memory would be wrong within weeks. What is durable is the test you can run yourself.

The question that separates them

Ask: what is this built on, and how would it know?

A generator predicting plausible script text has no access to what happened in your niche. It cannot know that 422 of the Reels we analysed run under 15 seconds and sit at a median of 47,938 views against 217,470 just above. It cannot know that number-and-list openings have the worst clear rate of nine families. Those are facts about published videos, and they are only available to something that read published videos.

A test you can run in ten minutes

  1. Pick a reel in your niche that you already know did unusually well.
  2. Ask the tool for a script on that same topic, without showing it the reel.
  3. Compare the structure. Does the generated script open the way the real one did, or does it open the way scripts open?
  4. Ask the tool why its opening should work. A good answer cites something; a weak one restates the opening.
  5. Check the length it suggests. If it is under 15 seconds, it is not working from Reels performance data.

They are not exclusive, and the sensible pairing is obvious once the jobs are separated: decide what to make from analysis, then draft it with whatever you like.

What Scrptly is in this comparison

Scrptly is on the analysis side. It reads published Reels and reports what separated the ones that travelled, over a corpus of 2,499 Reels across 526 accounts. Its evaluator checks a draft you wrote against those patterns. It is not a one-click generator.

Figures on this page come from 2,499 Instagram Reels across 526 accounts, analysed by Scrptly and deduplicated so no reel is counted twice. Read 2026-10-10.

Run the ten minute test on us: analyse a reel you already understand and see whether the read matches.
