Content with Carina's Instagram Reels, broken down

Five Reels, 443,000 views, and the longest one did 25 times the shortest. On an account built around speed, the slow one won.

Why this account was picked

We do not choose accounts by follower count or by raw views, because both mostly measure how big someone already is. This one was selected because it clears the checks we apply to every Reel: 10,013 followers, which sits inside the band where views per follower is meaningful, a best reel at 24.0 times follower count against a floor of 3, and a like rate averaging 3.4 percent against a 3.12 percent median across our wider sample.

Those three together are the difference between an account that got lucky once and one whose audience actually responds. Plenty of larger accounts fail the second and third.

The longest video won

Her best reel runs 35 seconds and carries 125 transcribed words, and it did 240,120 views. The two weakest run 8 and 18 seconds with two and sixteen words, and did 13,100 and 9,636.

That is 25 times between the longest and the shortest on an account whose second-best video literally promises speed in its opening: "GRWM in 20 seconds".

The winner tells a small story first

"I've been craving one of my favourite sandwiches, and with the night to myself, I thought, why not" is a setup with a person, a situation and an intention before anything is demonstrated. The weakest two open on a question to brands and a described visual.

A question addressed to brands is addressed to almost nobody watching. That is the most common way a business account loses its own audience.

Scale, for a 10,000 follower account

240,120 views on 10,013 followers is 24 views per follower, eight times the outlier floor. Small accounts are not capped, and this one cleared its own audience twenty-four times over.

By the numbers

Views per follower is the only row that compares fairly between accounts of different sizes.

The best reel here reached 24.0 views for every follower the account has, against the 3.0 we treat as an outlier floor. Across our wider sample 65 percent of Reels land below their account's follower count, and the largest accounts sit furthest below, so a mid-sized account clearing its own audience many times over is doing something scale alone does not buy.

What transfers

  1. Do not address brands in a video your audience is watching. Speak to the viewer you have.
  2. A small personal setup outperformed a speed promise on the same account.
  3. Longer won here. Above the 15 second floor, pick the length the story needs.
  4. Ten thousand followers produced 240,000 views. Audience size is not the ceiling.
