Gary Vaynerchuk's Instagram Reels, broken down

Three Reels, 20 million views, and one of them did twenty times the other two combined. It is also the only one that is not advice.

What this is

Gary Vaynerchuk has 11,933,109 followers on Instagram, read from his most recent analysis. He built that audience on business and motivation content. Scrptly analysed his three best-performing Reels.

Three Reels. 19,911,179 views between them, of which 18,151,001 came from one.

Every opening is the transcribed audio, verbatim.

A 20 times gap inside one account

The top reel did 18,151,001 views. The other two did 906,170 and 854,008. That is a factor of twenty between posts on the same account.

The two lower ones open on instruction: get out of regret, do something tomorrow. The top one opens on a complaint about the weather. It is the only one of the three that asks nothing of the viewer in its first line.

The caveat that matters here

The top reel is from July 2025 and the other two are from September 2026, so it has had fourteen more months to accumulate views. That explains part of a twenty times gap and nowhere near all of it.

We are flagging it rather than quietly using the comparison, because with only three Reels in the set a single dating artefact can carry the whole conclusion.

By the numbers

Views per follower is the only row that compares fairly between accounts of different sizes.

Two things are worth reading off that table. These Reels run longer than the 47.7 second median across our wider sample, at 54 seconds. And the best of them reached 1.52 views for every follower, against the 3.0 we use as an outlier floor.

That second number is the one that surprises people, and it is the reason we rank on it rather than on raw views. Across our wider sample 65 percent of Reels land below their account's follower count. An account with millions of followers is not reaching millions of people per post, and a page that quoted only the view count would imply otherwise.

What transfers to a smaller account

  1. An opening that makes no demand of the viewer is easier to stay with than one that issues an instruction.
  2. Three Reels is a small sample. Do not draw hard conclusions from your own best three either.
  3. Check the dates before comparing your own posts. Older content has had longer to accumulate.

Three Reels is not a sample

We are publishing this with three videos because that is what our analysis covers, and it is worth being explicit about what that cannot support. Three posts cannot establish a pattern, cannot separate format from timing, and cannot tell you whether the top reel is typical or a one-off.

What it can do is show the spread, which is unusually wide, and name the one visible difference between the top post and the other two. Treat that as a hypothesis to check against his wider output rather than a finding.

Comparison figures come from 2,572 Instagram Reels across 539 accounts analysed by Scrptly. Read 2026-10-14.
