Every opening is an instruction to look
"Look at this weight stack closely." "Do you want to see what is hiding in Apple's app icons?" "What colour is this?" Five of the six ask the viewer to perform an act of noticing in the first three seconds.
That is a different mechanism from telling someone a fact. It makes the viewer do something, and a viewer who has just done something is harder to scroll away from than one who has just been told something.
The weakest one is the only one about a person
"I came across Sen's portfolio" did 833,714 views, fourth of six, and the two below it are strong at 512,430 and 571,419. The spread across all six is only 3.6 times, which is tight.
That tightness is the signature of a working format: the account knows what it makes, and the results cluster rather than swinging.
Lengths vary more than the format suggests
These run 31 to 96 seconds. The shortest, at 31 seconds, is fourth by views; the longest, at 96, is second. Length is not the variable here, which is consistent with our wider finding that above the 15 second floor, length stops explaining much.
By the numbers
Views per follower is the only row that compares fairly between accounts of different sizes.
| Measure | This account | All 2,572 analysed Reels |
|---|---|---|
| Reels analysed | 6 | 2,572 |
| Followers | 84,536 | accounts vary, not comparable |
| Median length | 64 seconds | 47.7 seconds |
| Best reel, views per follower | 21.9 | 3.0 is the outlier floor |
| Total views across these Reels | 5,703,234 | not comparable |
The best reel here reached 21.9 views for every follower the account has, against the 3.0 we treat as an outlier floor. Across our wider sample 65 percent of Reels land below their account's follower count, and the largest accounts sit furthest below, so a mid-sized account clearing its own audience many times over is doing something scale alone does not buy.
What transfers
- Ask the viewer to look at something specific in the first three seconds. Doing beats being told.
- A question with a visible answer in frame is a visual hook that still works in text.
- Build a format and the spread narrows. Six Reels inside a 3.6 times band is unusually consistent.
- Above 15 seconds, pick the length the idea needs rather than the length a rule suggests.
